The beginning of her report using the analogy of the "blue blanket for boys and pink ones for girls" created a theme the earned through and to the end of her report. She ex plains how young children learn from their surroundings and then use this initial knowledge to transition to a defi nite style of language. Tanya clearly defined the purpose of her research and then provided the facts and information to support that purpose. Throughout the course of her pa per she did not deviate from her central theme. Parts of her report consisted of research and scientific data that Tanya was able to read, understand, evaluate and then communicate in a concise and easily understood manner. Her using of words, phrases and complex sentences demonstrates advanced skills in reading, writing and un derstanding the English language. The linguistic differences between Russian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian men and women can be noticed when you communicate with people from these countries simultaneously. The role of gender in language and communication has been an area of intense sociolinguistic research during the last thirty yean or so. Sociolinguists concluded that the language of males and females living in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus differs significantly. The subject of our research is the differentiation of male and female varieties of the language. The aim of the research is to investigate the linguistic differences between Russian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian men and women The task is:

2) to find the origin and examine the way male and female language developed when these countries were one state;
3) to prove that the linguistic differences are of great im portance and that they influence both sexes significantly.

To determine the linguistic differences between men and women we have done the research using the methods of observation and studying the sociolinguistic Ukrainian and Russian literature. Over a period of six months we observed the eleven-form ers of both sexes with the aim of finding out how the language of males and females differs. Different sociolinguists concluded that the sex of com municators affects:

1) The linguistic forms used by men and women Ukrainian and Russian, also Byelorussian language;
2) The style of speaking;
3) The conversational behavior Russian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian men and women use different linguistic forms in their speech. In casual speech women use fewer vernacular forms than men and are more sensitive than men to the prestige forms. They are also in the lead of using the most advanced forms and more of the newer linguistic forms in casual speech.
During this research we investigated the conversational behavior of fifteen male and sixteen female students. We have proved that males and females have almost completely different speaking styles. They shall know about these differences to be successful in communicating and dating each other. Its also will be useful for you, to know the features and manners of Russian and Ukrainian women to communicate with men.

Russian and Ukrainian women usually use tentative phrases or qualify in their speech more often than men do. Phrases like I guess, I think and I wonder if abound in the speech patterns of women but not in those of men. In addition, women use more disclaimers, prefacing their remarks with statements This probably is not important, but.... Such practices weaken the messages sent to others. Men take longer turns and interrupt more in conversations. They also tend to use more direct commands in their speech. Russian, Ukrainian and Belarus women do more conversational back channeling and ask 70% of their questions to keep the conversation going on. We think that Russian women and Ukrainian ladies are simply more polite, attentive and soft during their conversations with men.

Thus, men speak report-talk and their goal is to maintain status, to demonstrate knowledge and skills and to keep the centre-stage position. When Russian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian women have con-venations; their goal is the language of rapport-talk. It is designed to establish relationships and to lead to intimacy with others. However, Russian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian men tend to dominate in conversations. The women seem to need more assurance and fail to lay claim to their statements as frequently as men do. Men and women in former USSR tend to talk about different topics when they are in the same sex groups. Males tend to talk about sports, competition, aggression, and doing things. Russian, Ukrainian and Belorussian ladies talk about themselves, their feelings, their relationships, their homes and their families.

When they get together, men talk less about aggression and women talk less about home and family. Men tend to reject anecdotal information as unimpor tant while women are likely to offer personal anecdotes within the group. These tendencies can be explained by the differences between male and female humorous styles. Women's humor is more egalitarian and more ori ented. Women use jokes to maintain favorable atmosphere during the conversation. Men's humor is competitive, it is based upon personal ambitions to discredit the others and therefore it provokes tension between the conversation partners. Gender-specific language is determined by social fac tors mainly. Different socialization of men and women gives rise to the linguistic differences between the sexes.

Learning to speak either male or female language as a rule begins in childhood. The mass media, different books, magazines and newspapers provide a rich set of role models to help children to learn their sex roles in their future.
